Twitter is all set to introduce its subscription service, Twitter Blue, to Pakistani users as some users in Pakistan have spotted its icon in the sidebar on the website version.
The service, which has already been rolled out in 13 countries, offers users access to a range of premium features, including the ability to upload longer videos in HD, use images from NFT profiles, and access official Twitter content. The cost of the service varies depending on the region and platform. In Pakistan, users can expect to pay around Rs 2,200 ($8) for the desktop version of the app, while the iOS and Android versions are priced at over Rs 3,000 ($11).
The introduction of Twitter Blue is part of the social media giant’s efforts to generate additional revenue. The service includes a blue checkmark next to the user’s name, which was previously only available for verified accounts of public figures. However, now, anyone who is willing to pay for the service can have a blue tick.
Twitter Blue also offers users the ability to undo tweets and change color schemes, improving the overall experience on the platform. The subscription fee will vary depending on the region, and Twitter has not yet disclosed the payment structure for Pakistan. The annual plan for the web-based service is priced at $84, a discount compared to the monthly web subscription price of $8. The discount will be available in countries like the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.
In November 2022, Elon Musk first launched the new Twitter Blue service, but it was quickly overwhelmed by fake accounts belonging to institutions and celebrities, leading to its dissolution. However, the service was later reintroduced in December 2022 with a few minor changes.
