Aamir Liaquat’s widow has been barred from giving interviews, making statements on social media and contacting the witnesses

Dania Shah, the widow of television personality Aamir Liaquat Hussain, has been granted bail by the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday in a case related to leaking obscene videos of her husband to social media. She was arrested on December 15, 2022, by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from her home in Punjab’s Lodhran.

According to the verdict, which granted bail against the surety bonds worth Rs2 million, there was no evidence against the suspect and the FIA’s investigations were “poor”. The court also said that the allegation of obscene videos required further investigation.

The verdict noted that the public prosecutor had said that Dania had confessed to recording the videos during an interview and that there were two witnesses, the cameraman and the interviewer. However, the mobile phone with the videos was sold, and the FIA did not recover the phone or interrogate the person who purchased it, the verdict said.

Meanwhile, the court barred Dania from giving interviews, making statements on social media, or contacting the witnesses. The allegations against her will be decided by a trial court.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain was found dead at his residence in Karachi on June 9, 2022, at the age of 50.
