The Microsoft co-founder believes that programs like ChatGPT will enhance the efficiency of many office jobs

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, recently spoke of the profound impact that ChatGPT and other similar programs will have on the world. ChatGPT, which was released in November 2022, has been a catalyst for the rapidly growing artificial intelligence industry and has garnered a record-breaking 100 million users in just two short months of being made publicly available. Microsoft, recognizing the potential of ChatGPT, signed a $10 billion deal with OpenAI, the creators of the chatbot. The tool has since been integrated into Microsoft’s web browser, Bing.

The success of ChatGPT has caused concern for Microsoft’s competitors, particularly Google, who have stepped up their own AI development efforts in response. Google has developed its own ChatGPT rival, named “Bard,” and has plans to release a series of advanced AI tools in the near future.

In his interview with Handelsblatt, a German business daily newspaper, Gates commented on the revolutionary nature of ChatGPT and its potential to change the world. He stated, “Artificial intelligence has, until now, been capable of reading and writing, but not truly understanding the content. However, programs like ChatGPT will revolutionize the efficiency of many office jobs by assisting with tasks such as writing invoices and letters. This will bring about a transformation of our world.”
