Likely launch of new MacBook Air, iPad, and iMac Pro at Spring Event 2022

In the ages of leakers, it has become a tradition to predict what might be launched at the annual Apple Spring Event, which usually takes place in March or April. While iPhone and Apple watch launches generally occur in September, there is a chance that we might see the new SE released in the coming months.

Apple revitalized the SE with the 2020 model, which came out in the spring of that year. Due to the rising number of leaks, it is highly likely that the iPhone SE 3 5G will launch, wherein it is expected to look much the same as the outgoing iPhone SE, but this time out it gets a 5G radio for much faster mobile internet. Given the imminent rollout of 5G C-Band, the refresh of design with updated radios seems viable. Apple has no budget 5G option in its lineup currently.

It is also speculated that 5G will be integrated into the cellular version of the iPad Air 5, which would likely also get the A15 Bionic processer to bring it on par with the iPad Mini launched last Fall. The Air version of Apple’s tablet line usually launches at the Spring Event, so this might be the product to look out for if you’re in the market for an iPad but want a screen larger than the Mini.

Apple is likely to retain the M1 chip for its iPad Pro lineup to market its most expensive tablet to creative professionals. However, the M2 chip, which would focus on efficiency instead of power, is likely to be released with the 2022 MacBook Air. Meanwhile, iMac Pro was last updated in 2017, so it is likely Apple refreshes that model with its M1 Pro and Max SoCs.
